The colossal Buddha statue in Nara

Posted 1 year ago by posteye in response to adonis's question: Where is that 53 feet statue of Buddha in Nara city? I want to shoot pictures. (give a different answer) .

Inside the Nara Koen Park, a 1.300 acres surface of temples, ponds and lawns. The bronze-covered statue showing Buddha sitting in Todai-ji, the Great Eastern temple, is actually believed to be the largest wooden construction in the world. The statue was commissioned in 743 and hundreds of pilgrims come now to see it. Mind the local hopping deers, about 1000, so brave that they eat your map or straw handbag! They are protected as the emissaries of the gods.
