I only visited one: the Nikko Tosho-gu Museum of Art, which is worth a look. It's at the back of the shrine complex at the Tosho-gu and it's open every day from 8 am to 4 pm, and the entrance ticket is 800 ¥. You can see there excellent painted doors and screens and beautiful decorations.
