West from Ueno to Ikebukuro, along the Yamanote line you'll find the Nippori station. Here you'll discover Yanaka, packed with old, interesting buildings, and lots of temples spread all over the spacious Yanaka cemetery. One of the most attractive temples of the area is Tenno ji where you'll find a large copper Buddha statue dating 1690.
