elena's question:
What happens during that odd cherry festival in Yoshino? It sounds way tooo strange for an Australian.(give a different answer) .
Every April, usually around 11-12, people leave their offices and climb the Yoshino mountain inside the Yoshino-Kumano National Park to witness the blossom. Flocks of people sit on the ground, among pink and white cherry petals in what they call the hanami, cherry blossom viewing. The mountain is covered in tens of thousands of such trees, which come to life after the bleak winter at different times depending on altitude.
